If I told you about Crusades, what would you think? Thousands of knights, in a foreign land, fighting an enemy that they had not chosen, but that perhaps they felt so distant and different.
Let me tell you about one of these knights, born in the year 1060 in Antwerp, Belgium. In a noble residence, the Count of Boulogne Eustachio II and Ida, the daughter of the Duke of Lower Lorraine, are awaiting the arrival of their second child.
He is the second child, in that time did it really matter? He would become a simple knight, in the service of some noble. But, something in his life changed, thanks to his maternal uncle. A bright future was finally being embroidered around, protected by the prayers of the devoted mother.
A resigned child who transforms into a man of a thousand possibilities, with an eye always turned to his mother, an example of Christianity and devotion. The two beliefs that carried him forward throughout his life, and that made him the most valiant knight. But I will let him tell you about his heroic deeds, and your journey begins right there, in Antwerp unaware that it has just given birth to a hero.
